Best of the Best & Best Large Residential Bathroom by Rachael Daboin, Wide Canvas

What our judges said

“This vastly improved primary bathroom is a visual treat and decidedly more functional than its predecessor.

The fresh white/blue palette makes the room seem light and bright despite there being no natural light source.

The bathroom's new layout is thoughtful and functional.”

Best Residential Design Element by Marcio Decker, Aspen Leaf Interiors

What our judges said

“The designer deserves kudos for tackling this quirky wet bar area given the structural idiosyncrasies and eclectic combination of finishes and furnishings.”

“Camouflaging the fridge drawers with tile is a fun concept and the use of the lively geometric tile that mimics the angled ceiling contributes to the playful ambience of the space.”

Best Residential Powder Room by Marcio Decker, Aspen Leaf Interiors

What our judges said

“Challenges are sometimes what make a project more interesting, but in this case the designer had to contend with an excess.

In the end though, this delightful little vignette of a powder room was worth the trouble.

In keeping with the contemporary style of the home, the minimally appointed space, austere color palette, sleek columnar pedestal sink, and unique recessed LED light wall light are quintessentially contemporary.”

Best Small Residential Bathroom by Alejandra Bernardez, Alejandra Bernardez Interior Design

What our judges said

“This very successful reconfiguration of an existing space to create a true master suite deserves high praise.

The designer wisely chose to place the bathroom to take advantage of the existing windows (the little window above the vanity is a charming detail), rather than tuck the bathroom into a windowless corner.

The materials are dark and moody making this space dramatic and elegant. A bold choice for a small bath.”

Best Small Residential Kitchen by Cheryl Chenault, Cheryl Chenault Interiors, Inc.

What our judges said

“The eloquent design statement sets the stage for this thoughtful kitchen remodel.

Descriptors such as ‘tranquil,’ ‘serenity’ and ‘luminous accurately capture the pleasing calm aesthetic of the space achieved with a soft neutral palette, simple clean lines, sleek modern cabinetry, and multi-layered lighting.”

Best Large Residential Kitchen by Stacey Michael, Timeliness Interiors

What our judges said

“The designer faced some complex problems designing for a client that is 6'-5" and in need of taller countertops, coupled with the issue of a ceiling impacted by 2nd floor plumbing. These challenges were successfully addressed.

In terms of appearance, the client's love of old California Green and Green architecture comes across with an emphasis on stone finishes (back splash, stone flooring), dark cabinetry, and other turn of the century features.”
